Content Submissions

There’s way too much weirdness out there for only our Staff Writers to cover, so we welcome submissions from people – whether you’re an investigator or just someone with a passion for the strange! There are a few things that you need to know if you’re interested in sending in some content submissions.

First off, we want to make our articles informative, easy to read, and accessible to all audiences. What’s that mean? Well, it means that we don’t true to publish extremely over-the-top scientific or technical articles. Of course, sometimes that is needed to make your point clear, but in general we don’t expect our readers to have degrees in quantum physics in order to grasp what you are trying to get at.

Personal is better! Yes, we know you may be very interested in a paranormal topic, and that’s great, but we also try to make people realize that experiences with the paranormal are, actually, quite normal. So if you have a particular personal story to share, something that happened directly to you, or that you were directly involved in, that’s the stuff we love to hear and present to our readers.

Now, how do you send us content or ideas? Well, that’s easy. You can drop us an email at sgra@sgra.org if you want to tell us about an idea you have for something to write on. Our editors will let you know if we have anything already published or in the works, and will also be happy to give you some pointers on where to go and how to get started. Once you have an article or experience you want to submit, go ahead and shoot it off to us at the same address. Our editors will give it a once-over (we won’t ever change anything in the specifics that you write), and when we’ll send you notice of when and where it will be published. Once your content is uploaded, we’ll also send you a link to it.

It’s important for you to know that even though we are posting your content, it’s yours to keep and do with as you want. In other words, we don’t claim the rights to it, it’s all yours and you will always get full credit. If you want to submit it to other websites, post it on your own, or use it elsewhere, go for it. We know too many places that once something is given to them they run with it and it becomes their property. Not here! What’s your is yours! Always.

One other quick note about formatting and images. All content submissions must be formatted in our own way before posting to our website. Therefore, we don’t want you to waste your time making your content look all pretty in something like MS Word or another word processing program, and then be disappointed when it doesn’t come out that way on screen. To avoid this, make it simple. Simple is better. Don’t use fancy font type, change your styles, or write in fun colors… that’ll all be dumped into plain-text when we format it. The best formatted content is very simple 12-point font (things like bolds, underlines, and italics are OK).

As for images… any pictures to go along with your content is welcome, but there’s two very important things to know. 1) Images should only be in standard format (that’s .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .jpeg) and should be no larger than 2MB in size. And 2) They need to be ORIGINAL TO YOU. If you are submitting a picture that is taken from a website, search engine, or any other place aside from YOU, YOU, YOU, you MUST include a link back to where you grabbed it from, or the person who created/posted it. If we have any suspicion that a picture is not your own, and it is not an open-source image, we WILL NOT POST IT.
