Many cultures subscribe to a belief in a strong connection between humans and animals, both in a physical and spiritual sense. Native American cultures are most well-known for the idea of Totem Animals, but others including Celtic, Chinese, and Egyptian associated powerful attributes with our animal companions, as well as held animals in high regards in their cultures. We are excited to host the next version of our Totem Animal Workshop, this time partnering with Locket’s Meadow Farm for what promises to be a wonderful experience for all involved… and space is STILL available, as we’ve been able to increase the size of the workshop!
During this fun and interactive workshop we will share the belief of totem or power animals, and discuss how often times your particular animal guide is related to situations you are currently facing in your life. After this talk we will lead the group in a guided meditation using Native American chants and music during which people will open them up to welcoming and recognizing their own totem animals. Acknowledging these animal guides will help you to strengthen yourself, connect with these animals regularly, and learn more about each one.
The workshop will begin at 4:00pm at Locket’s Meadow Farm, 771 Old Litchfield Turnpike, Bethany CT (click here for a map). We plan for 2 hours for the workshop, but it can last longer depending on the size of the group, questions, and interactions. Please also note that this is a farm… therefore dress accordingly. With some rain expected over the next few days the ground may be wet and muddy, so plan for proper shoes. The workshop will take place indoors in the event of rain Saturday afternoon.
Finally, the cost for the workshop is $10.00 / $5.00 for SGRA Members and includes a packet of materials. Pre-registration is requested by Saturday morning. You can email sgra@sgra.org or call (203) 987 – SGRA to register.
If you can’t make Saturday’s Workshop, don’t worry! We are planning dates in August and September for the next Totem Animal Workshops!
